Niger

West Africa's largest country by area, landlocked and about four-fifths Sahara desert. Most people live in the south, along the Niger River and the border with Nigeria; the capital, Niamey, sits on the river. Uranium mined near Arlit has long been a major export.

Orange for the Sahara in the north, white for purity, green for the fertile south along the Niger River. The orange disc in the centre stands for the sun. Adopted in 1959, before independence.
