Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina touches the Adriatic only at Neum, a strip of coast about 20 km long. Sarajevo hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics, and Mostar's Ottoman Old Bridge of 1566, destroyed in 1993, was rebuilt in 2004. The 1995 Dayton Agreement ended its war.

Adopted in 1998 and chosen by the international High Representative. The yellow triangle echoes the country's shape and its three peoples; the white stars, cut off at both ends, stand for Europe.
